Manuel Fuentes borns in 1996 in Crevillent, Alicante (Spain). He studies voice, repertoire and musical teachings with the tenor José Sempere, and has expanded his vocal technique studies with great singers such as Ana María Sanchez, Mariella Devia, Dolora Zajick, Sonia Ganassi, Carlos Álvarez or Ruggero Raimondi.
Within his artistic history, his success in several international competitions should be highlighted. He is proclaimed three-time champion in the Alfredo Kraus International Singing Contest, taking the First Prize, Audience Award and Best Spanish Singer Award in 2019. The following year he was awarded three prizes in the Tenor Viñas International Singing Competition, the prizes being the Plácido Domingo Prize for the best Spanish singer, the Festival Castell de Peralada Prize and the Fundació Ferrer-Salat Prize. He was also the winner of two prizes in the first edition of the Alicante International Lyrical Contest.
The Festival Castell de Peralada named him as a Young Artist at the EFA (European Festivals Association) with whom he had the pleasure of performing a solo recital in Ljubljana (Slovenina) in February 2022.
In 2020 he made his debut at the Teatro de la Zarzuela (Madrid) with the role of Maestro in the zarzuela "Farinelli" by Tomás Bretón. In addition, it should be added that his operatic repertoire is very extensive. The roles that he has played are: Giorgio Valton (I Puritani), Raimondo Bidebent (Lucia di Lammermoor), Ramfis (Aida), Colline (La Bohème), Talbot (Maria Stuarda), Ferrando (Il Trovatore), Sparafucile (Rigoletto) and Sam (Un Ballo in Maschera).
It is also worth highlighting his participation in the 175th anniversary of the Gran Teatre del Liceu alongside Lisette Oropesa, Sondra Radvanovsky and Ludovic Tézier among others.
He has worked under the baton of Guillermo García Calvo, Jordi Bernácer, Oliver Díaz, Corrado Rovaris, Marco Armiliato and Karel Mark Chichón.
His next commitments are: Il Conte Rodolfo (La Sonnambula) at Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, Lorenzo (I Capuleti e i Montecchi) at Opéra national de Lorraine, Don Basilio (Il Barbiere di Siviglia) Masetto (Don Giovanni) and Il Vescovo (La Fiamma) at Deutsche Oper Berlin.
